KUALA LUMPUR: Tickets for three sporting events – basketball, netball and taekwondo – at the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games (KL2017), to be held from August 14 to 30, are sold out.

According to the KL2017 official website, www.kualalumpur2017.com.my, tickets for the finals of the pencak silat and swimming events are also sold out.

Malaysia Organising Committee (Masoc) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong told reporters that the number of seats at certain competition venues will most likely be increased. These include for netball events at Juara Stadium, Bukit Kiara and sepak takraw meets at Titiwangsa Stadium.

"Juara Stadium can accommodate up to 1,000 spectators at any one time. We will consider adding more seats,” he said after launching the Digital KL2017 platform here yesterday.

“I have asked every sports association to improve the situation at every venue. If tickets for that particular sport are sold out, maybe we can increase the number of seats at that venue.

“However, we will control the increase in ticket sales and priority will be given to Malaysian supporters,” he added. -- BERNAMA
