KUALA LUMPUR: The first 24 of 30 events confirmed for One Championship’s packed roster shows a reduced number of fights in Kuala Lumpur from three to two in 2019.

The fights are set for June 28 and Dec 6 as the mixed martial arts (MMA) professional franchise announces its first live event in Tokyo, Japan which is scheduled for March 31, 2019.

However, this doesn’t stop the promotion’s Malaysian fighters from being named in the cards overseas.

In the past eight-months, three Malaysians have earned their name on fight cards outside of Kuala Lumpur with Audreylaura Boniface featuring in the season opener at Kings of Courage in Jakarta on Jan 20 where she lost to host nation’s Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol.

That subsequently led to former title contender Ev Ting’s showdown against Ariel Sexton in Myanmar on Feb 23 where he won via a split decision then went on to win against Japan’s Koji Ando in Macau on Jun 23.

Hisyam Samsudin also got his shot in the cage where he unfortunately lost to Indonesia’s Sunoto Peringkat in Thailand on Mar 24.

With nine fights to go until the end of 2018 season, Ev has been named once more for a showdown again former One Lightweight champion Shinya Aoki of Japan at Bangkok’s One: Kingdom of Heroes on Oct 6.

The winner of the Ev-Aoki fight will move on to challenge for the One Lightweight World title in Japan in March 2019.

Aside from Ev, Keanu Subba has recently announced he has signed a contract on his next bout where he was pretty tight lipped on who he will be fighting and when.

The promotion will head to Shanghai on Sept 8 for the next fight whereby Malaysia’s featherweight Muhammad Aiman Raziz Affindi will go up against China’s Chen Lei who is not looking to tarnish his perfect score sheet of 5-0.
