KUALA LUMPUR: Mixed doubles coach Chin Eei Hui is pleased with the improvement shown by Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying despite falling short in their bid to claim the Australian Open crown on Sunday.

According to Eei Hui, the World No 23 communicated well, but failed to capture their second title of the season, losing 21-13, 23-21 to South Korea's Seo Seung Jae-Chae Yujung.

"Physically, I think the pair have come a long way, especially Liu Ying, who underwent a shoulder surgery last year," said Eei Hui on Monday.

She now believes that the 2016 Rio Olympic Games silver medallists are on the right track towards regaining their form.

"If you ask me, I think they played extremely well here (Sydney). Liu Ying really stood out.

"Their combination throughout the tournament was not too bad either, though still far from their best," added Eei Hui.

The Malaysians will play in the US Open on June 12-17.
