SEREMBAN: Puteri Umno leaders nationwide have been directed to identify division-level members above 21 years of age who have yet to register as voters.

Its national chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said it is vital to ensure that all eligible Puteri Umno leaders and members register as voters with the Election Commission (EC).

"Puteri members' votes are crucial to ensure Barisan Nasional’s (BN) victory in the next general election (GE14).

“Their registration is vital in the next six months, as the general election is just around the corner," Mas Ermieyati said here on Sunday at a get-together session with all Puteri members in Negri Sembilan.

Out of 400,000 Puteri members nationwide, some 40,000 have yet to register as voters.

Mas Ermieyati said in Negri Sembilan, which has 30,000 Puteri members, some 2,000 have yet to register with the EC.

"It might be a small number, but every vote is crucial, at every division, to ensure BN's win," she said.

Mas Ermieyati added that it is possible that those who have yet to register are not aware that they need to do so once they turn 21 years old.

"We will go down to the ground nationwide to find out why, and urge them to register as voters," she said.
