MUAR: Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has dismissed the issue of PKR’s continuing engagement with Pas as an internal matter that will be resolved.

Speaking after attending the first anniversary celebration of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) in Bakri here last night, Dr Mahathir, who is PPBM chairman, said the issue was a small matter.

“It is nothing. It is an internal matter and we will resolve it,” said the former prime minister.

He refused to comment further.

On Aug 29, the Pakatan Harapan presidential council announced that the opposition coalition would not have any cooperation with Pas ahead of the 14th General Election.

However, PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently urged the party to keep its doors open to Pas.

The issue is seen as PKR sending mixed messages in terms of their plans to team up with Pas.

At the same event last night, PPBM deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said the council’s decision was final and all avenues for any cooperation with Pas were closed.

“Maybe in the next presidential council meeting, our friends from PKR would provide explanation on this matter because as far as we are concerned, the decision is final.”

He, however, said he was not sure when the next meeting would be held.

Present were PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
