LENGGONG: Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein today described Pakatan Harapan’s (Pakatan) new leadership line-up as “muddled”.

Hishammuddin, who is also Defence Minister, said the line-up demonstrates that the opposition is incapable of making a decision on who among them should lead the people.

"The party has appointed three leaders. What about the others? What about Mukhriz? What about Tan Sri Muhyiddin? What about Shafie Apdal?

"What (Pakatan) is doing is illustrating the saying that ‘the ends justify the means.’ Those not deserving of being named leaders have now been appointed leaders. I am not sure whether they are serious, or if they are simply doing this for (political expediency)," he said.

Hishammuddin was speaking to reporters after closing the Lenggong Umno division delegates meeting at Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Lenggong here.

"They have appointed Anwar as their leader. This shows that (Anwar) allows himself to be used by others. He does not deserve to be a leader. I am not sure if (Anwar) has repented or not, but he has a bigger task to convince the people of that," he added.

On Thursday, Pakatan announced its finalised leadership structure, naming Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as its de-facto leader, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as chairman and Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as president.
