ALOR GAJAH: 200 youths from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) have announced their resignation from the party today.

The 200 shifted their alliance, choosing instead to join the country’s largest political party.

Umno executive secretary Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh congratulated their move, stating that this meant they recognised Umno as the best party in fighting for the cause of the Malays.

"Thanks to Hafiz (Mohd Hafiz Iskandar Jamil) for bringing his PPBM members to join Umno.

"They realise that PPBM has no clear direction and was unable to give assurance to the future of the youths," he told a press conference at his residence in Kampung Pulau in Masjid Tanah here.

Ab Rauf, who is also Masjid Tanah Umno division chief said this after handing over aid to the poor and needy at a buka puasa event here.

Former PPBM Armada coordinator chief Mohd Hafiz Iskandar Jamil today announced the resignation of 200 youths from PPBM, citing a loss of confidence in the party's direction.

"All of us joined the PPBM without joining any other political party prior to that. But we realised that the party is not fighting for our cause as members, instead, using us as manpower to organise their functions.

"If they are unable to take care of the member's welfare, how can they take care of a larger community?" said Hafiz who joined PPBM in January last year.

Hafiz added that he would ask more of his other friends to resign from PPBM in stages, specifically those from the Masjid Tanah constituency.
