KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir should have defended Armada (Youth) exco Muhammad Hafiz Azhar instead of punishing him.
This was PPBM Youth exco Mohamad Taufik Abas' response to Mukhriz's statement yesterday that Hafiz should face the party's disciplinary committee for demanding two senior party leaders to clear the air over their respective personal issues.
Taufik said it was also uncalled for that Mukhriz accused Hafiz of being planted by Umno to cause trouble internally.
"How could Mukhriz say that when he was the one who elected Hafiz as an exco," Taufik said at a press conference today.
Last week, Hafiz had urged PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to step forward and clarify issues surrounding the wealth of his children.
He had also asked PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to clear the air over his alleged relationship with a married woman.
At the press conference, Taufik also urged PPBM cyber troopers to stop using the word "dedak" (animal feed) to stop party members from expressing their grouses.
"We only want PPBM to be clean of internal spats because we love the party so don't accuse us eating "dedak" when we plead the leaders to make clarifications on issues." he added.
