KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional is confident it will retain the Ranau parliamentary seat and three state seats – Kundasang, Karanaan, and Paginatan – if the right candidates are fielded in the 14th General Election (GE14).
Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister and Karanaan assemblyman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said all BN elected representatives have worked hard in their respective constituencies.
“However, in every election there will definitely be something unexpected such as matters pertaining to candidacy. If we look at the current trend, 30 per cent of the voters did not vote based on party but the candidate.
“Having said that, we are confident with the right candidates, there will be BN victory in Ranau,” he told reporters when met after the launching of Self-Exhibition at the Sabah Art Gallery here, today.
The Paginatan state seat is currently vacant following the death of its assemblyman Datuk Siringan Gubat last year. Gubat was also the state resource development and information technology minister.
Earlier in the event, Masidi said visual art education especially through drawing would be able to produce an independent, creative and innovative younger generation.
“In this aspect, it allows the younger people to think creatively and freely thus making them independent. We hope to create a generation that is innovative and fearless in expressing themselves,” he said.
The Self-Exhibition organised by Asgardian School of Art will display 59 art pieces throughout the month of April.
