SHAH ALAM: The former husband of cosmetics businessman Joy Revfa is mulling legal action against those who spread false information on their divorce case.

Datuk Ray Imran, 46, who is also a businessman, said he was accused of trying to prevent Joy, whose real name is Siti Arifah Mohd Amin, 30, from remarrying.

He claimed several media organisations and news portals had published untrue information regarding his divorce with Joy.

He said the reports had tarnished his image, despite having extended his full cooperation to resolve the matter.

“Since the beginning, I have said that I am happy that Joy is remarrying, and it is my wish to see her happy with (nasyid singer) Hafiz Hamidun.

“The controversies surrounding this issue have affected my image as a businessman, as many out there do not know the full story of what happened.

“They took pieces of information from here and there and made their own conclusions. This is what upsets me.

“I had been giving my full cooperation, as I want to see this matter settled peacefully and quickly, so that things will return to normal,” he told reporters at the Shah Alam Syariah Courts Complex here today.

Ray, who was accompanied by lawyer Hazwan Mohd Nor, was there to assist Joy in managing her application to validate their marriage, which was registered in a neighbouring country.

Meanwhile, Joy’s lawyer Ismail Mohd said the Syariah High Court has set Sept 19 to hear Joy’s application to validate her marriage with Ray in Thailand two years ago.

Ismail said Joy can only file an application to validate her divorce after the marriage validation case is settled.

It was learnt that Joy had filed the application to validate her marriage to Ray on Aug 23.

The controversy surrounding Joy and Hafiz’s marriage came under the spotlight in May when Hafiz raised concerns that their solemnisation was not valid.

He had said this was because of the allegedly unvalidated status of Joy’s divorce with Ray.

Following this, Joy filed a ‘farak’ order (court order for temporary separation) at the Petaling Lower Syariah Court on Aug 21.
