GEORGE TOWN: A DAP assemblyman’s aide accused of sexually assaulting a waitress outside an entertainment outlet in Lebuh Pantai here last week will be charged tomorrow.
The 50-year-old man, who was released from a two-day remand order on Saturday, will be charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code for ass¬ault or use of crimi¬nal force on a person with intent to out¬rage modesty.
The former DAP branch leader faces a jail sentence of up to ten years, or a fine, or a whipping, or any two of the three punishments, if convicted
The victim, a 21-year-old college student working as a waitress while awaiting her exam results, had alleged that the sexual assault took place on Thursday night when she escorted the man, who was drunk, to his car at a car park near the entertainment outlet.
While outside, the man had allegedly forcibly hu¬gged and kis¬sed her.
He had also purportedly touched her inappropriately and offered money for her to spend the night with him, or to perform a sex act on him.
She claimed she had struggled to get away, but was overpowered by the man.
She added that the man then began pleasuring himself on her as she wept.
The victim lodged a police report the next day.
