MELAKA: A 35-year-old local man suspected of murdering a 60-year-old retiree during an armed burglary last night, was remanded for seven days at the Ayer Keroh Court today.
In the 8pm burglary at Taman Bukit Terendak, Sungai Udang yesterday, the suspect broke into the home of Abdul Rahman Pileh, who was slashed to death with a sharp object, while his wife Sabturiah Lakidau was seriously injured.
Melaka Tengah police chief Assistant Commissioner Afzanizar Ahmad said Abdul Rahman’s body was sent to the Melaka Hospital for a post mortem today.
"The wife suffered injuries on her right cheek and lips. She is currently at the hospital getting treatment," he said.
Afnanizar added that the suspect, who has no criminal record, was remanded under Section 302/394 of the Penal Code for murder and injury in the commission of a robbery.
