GEORGE TOWN: Latest police investigation revealed that there were no closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the vicinity of a purported sex crime incident involving a DAP assemblyman’s aide.

Northeast District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar said that there were only cameras inside the entertainment outlet at Lebuh Pantai and none were found at the parking lot where a sexual assault allegedly took place.

“Our investigation officer has yet to retrieve the footage; however he has looked at it.

“There were only footages inside the premise showing both the suspect and the victim walking together. None covered the parking area,” he said in a press statement today.

The 21-year-old victim, who is working as a part-time waitress at the outlet, claimed that the 50-year-old man sexually assaulted her at the car park at about 11pm on Thursday.

The man, who was believed to be drunk, also sexually pleasured himself in front of her and later offered her up to RM700 to spend the rest of the night with him.

She refused and ran away from the man. The victim then lodged a police report the next day.

The man has since been remanded until tomorrow under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force on a person with intent to outrage modesty.
