JOHOR BARU: An employee of the Johor Baru Veterinary Department claimed trial at the sessions court here today to charges of corruption.

Veterinary assistant officer Mohd Razi Basar, who is also head of the ruminant unit, was brought to the court by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to face four counts of accepting bribes amounting to RM35,000.

The 40-year-old was alleged to have committed the offence four times between Aug 1 and Oct 22, 2013, and between Jan 21 and April 10, 2014, as an inducement to approve a supply order of livestock and animal husbandry goods from one Sarjuni Karjani.

He was alleged to have received the bribes in the form of cheques at a house in Kampung Belahan Tampok Rengit here.
