IF you’re not afraid of heights and would like take photos of base jumpers from the edge of the KL Tower sky deck, then make the KL Tower International Jump Malaysia (KLTIJM) your point of convergence.
The annual event, which begins Friday until Monday, offers visitors the chance to get really close to the base jumpers as they jump from the sky deck.
The adrenaline pumping actions starts from 8am until 6pm (for day jumps) and 8pm until 10pm (night jump).
This year, a total of 120 local and international jumpers from countries such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Denmark, Iran, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, South Africa, United States and United Kingdom are participating.
As an annual event, the aim here is to offer base jump enthusiasts, the opportunity to jump off KL Tower.
At the same time, it is hope that this extreme sport will help put Malaysia on international tourism maps as a destination for sport tourism.
“The event is in line with KL Tower aspiration as a must visit destination for culture, adventure and nature activities,” said Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd’s chief executive officer Meor Shahril Anuar.
“The extreme sporting event, which is entering its 17th year this year, will showcase exciting and hair-raising acts for the viewing pleasure of KL Tower’s visitors,” he added.
With a little something for everyone, among the activities lined-up includes activities such as bag jump and flying fox. There are also food trucks apart from KLTIJM 2017 merchandise on sale.
Other new acts to look forward to are the crane and rope jump, which will features trained international jumpers jumping from a crane installed at Tower Head 07 (TH07), at a height of 312m.
