KUALA LUMPUR: Acer Malaysia has extended its market leadership in Chromebooks today, with the unveiling of a series of Chrome devices and Chromeboxes to meet the demands from education to business sectors.
The Chromebook R 11 is equipped with Acer’s patented 360-degree hinge design, offering one-handed conversion and a wobble free touch experience.
The dual-torque hinge keeps the display secure and stable during touch control and while switching between four usage models – laptop, tablet, display, and tent modes.
The 11.6-inch Chromebook is equipped with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, runs on Chrome OS, and one of the first to incorporate the Google Play apps.
The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 also with an 11.6-inch screen is fortified with layers of protection to withstand drops in accordance with the demanding US MIL-STD 810G military standard.
Targeted for students, the laptop can withstand drops from heights up to 122cm, can resist up to 60kg of downward force on its lid and has a spill-resistant keyboard.
But those who desire a bit more real estate for their eyes could well be tempted by Acer's new offering: the Chromebook 14.
Running on Intel Core i5-6200U, it is designed for better application performance, intense graphics and battery life improvement.
The keyboard and touchpad are designed to resist 330ml of liquid water spillage, resist up to 60kg downward weight, and withstand shoulder height drops of 122cm. Similar to Chromebook 11, this laptop is also compliant with the US military standard.
The Chromebook 14 fits a 14-inch display in a 13-inch body and offers up to 12-hour battery life for all day business productivity on the move.
Meanwhile, the Acer Chromebox CXV2 and CXI2 are ideal for both business and education. Both are pre-installed with web apps and over 30,000 additional apps, themes and extensions on the Chrome web store.
The Chromebox for meetings CXV2 offers a complete, plug-and-go video conference, which also allows up to 15 participants at one go.
The Chromebook R 11 and 14 are priced at RM1,499 and RM2,299 respectively, while the price of Chromebook 11 N7 range from RM999 to RM1,099. The Chromebox CXI2 and CXV2 are retailing at RM1,999 and RM4,599 respectively.
And in conjunction with the launch, Acer is offering a zero per cent interest lease to use program for all newly unveiled Acer Chrome devices starting as low as RM42 per month for a period of 24 months.
Acer also buys back customers’ old laptops or iPads to reduce up to three months of the lease payments, with terms and conditions apply.
