THE Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has been rewarding informers of illegal dumping in the district with RM200.
MPK president Datuk Mohamad Yasid Bidin said the monetary reward would be given to the informers who provided clear information of illegal dumping.
“The information must be accompanied with pictures and the exact location of the activity.
“The council will award the informer after the culprit has been arrested,” he said.
He said the move was implemented a year ago and to date 89 lorries had been hauled in by MPK.
“Of the arrests, we collected around RM100,000 with each lorry issued a compound of between RM1,300 and RM2,500.”
He said the council had spent RM18,000 on the informers’ rewards.
“We need the information from, and cooperation of, the public to address the problem. We are confident of addressing illegal dumping in the district with such cooperation.”
